Project Summary
A former gasoline service station located in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ was impacted by petroleum hydrocarbons as a result of releases from underground storage tanks (USTs). The primary contaminants of concern identified included benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene (collectively referred to as BTEX), as well as trimethylbenzenes (TMB) and tentatively identified compounds (TICs). The geology, which primarily consists of fine sands, presented an injection challenge.
Provect-OX2™ was applied in-situ to address the residual sorbed and dissolved phase petroleum hydrocarbon contaminant mass.
Remedial Plan
ISCO plus enhanced bioremediation application of 7,550 lbs of Provect-OX2™ applied via 25 temporary injection points.
Results
- Greater than 95% reduction in contaminants at target wells.
- All constituents reduced below groundwater regulatory standards within 12 months.
- Sustained elevated ORPs confirm continued treatment.
